About The Position

The Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University seeks an individual who is strong on being pro-active and taking initiative, possesses strong organizational skills, and who is willing to work hard to deliver the global programs of the school. The Program Director of Global Learning in the Huntsman School of Business is listed as a Program Coordinator III position. The Program Director oversees, manages, and provides strategic guidance to the broad portfolio of global learning experiences and acumen abroad programs in the Huntsman School. Currently, there are over 14 programs and almost 350 students who participate in these programs each year in over a dozen countries, including SEED programs and international internship opportunities. Program offerings continue to increase. The Program Director is directly involved in facilitating all of these programs. The Program Director reports to the Director of Global Learning in the Huntsman School and supervises the Program Coordinator of Global Learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 2 years related professional work experience or equivalent combination of education plus experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget development and management.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • International experience.
  • Willingness to be available outside of office hours to director, deans, program leaders, and students (24/7).
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrated ability to network with global business and organizational leaders.
  • Strong technical skills in Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Ability to travel internationally if needed (but is not guaranteed) for Occasional in-country program support.
  • Attendance at international conferences.
  • Program and logistics development.
  • Strong organizational skills with good attention to details, large and small.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with faculty early each summer to design and coordinate program plans, understand academic and cultural program objectives, determine risks and/or constraints, assure compliance, etc.
  • Negotiate contracts/agreements with travel providers/vendors to correctly price programs.
  • Develop and maintain a global network of travel providers/vendors.
  • Identify and work with global academic centers for acumen abroad courses.
  • Develop and manage program budgets throughout the entire program.
  • Determine price point for each program and minimum number of student participants, accounting for coverage of program leader travel expenses.
  • Maintain excellent records and receipts, providing such to business services in a timely manner.
  • Effectively liaise with appropriate USU departments and offices to ensure effective delivery of each program. This includes maintaining a presence on the USU International Travel Oversight Committee (ITOC).
  • Implement program and travel logistics.
  • Follow critical financial policies and procedures.
  • Understand visa requirements and provide detailed information and instructions.
  • Work in a timely manner so that all logistics are delivered efficiently and on time in-country.
  • Develop and manage international internship opportunities, understanding available options, third party providers, working with established global networks, etc.
  • Develop and update policies and procedures appropriate to ensuring effective delivery and health and safety of students and faculty/staff program leaders.
  • Annual update of Program Leaders’ Policy and Procedures Manual.
  • Communicate policies and procedures to program leaders.
  • Conduct Health and Safety presentations to all groups traveling, presenting in each orientation course.
  • Maintain and update the Canvas Health and Safety Modules on an annual basis.
  • Work with faculty to make these available on their Canvas courses.
  • Monitor risk situations in program countries, tracking medical and security issues around the global.
  • Participate in the USU International Travel and Oversight Committee (ITOC) as the representative of the Huntsman School of Business.
  • Coordinate all office services.
  • Supervise Program Coordinator I who is responsible for marketing (including website), recruitment and application management, supervision of student assistant, serves as liaison with business services to ensure submitted documentation for p-card and travel authorization and reimbursement processing as well as monthly financial statements, provides general program support including management of ACCT 2020 acumen abroad program, BUS 2000 offerings, program events, etc.
  • Oversee updating of office procedures manual and annual IEE Open Doors report.
