About The Position

Redwood Community Services (RCS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening individuals, families, and communities through behavioral health, child welfare, youth development, housing, and support services. We are seeking a highly qualified, strategic, and experienced Director of Human Resources who brings strong leadership, sound judgment, and a passion for developing people and strengthening organizational culture. Requirements

  • Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required
  • 5+ years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of California labor laws, HR practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex HR functions, and support organizational goals.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record
  • Ability to successfully complete DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance, CACI clearance, TB screening, physical, and other pre-employment requirements
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain if required)

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for all HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, compensation, benefits, and workforce planning.
  • Serve as a member of the Leadership Team, providing guidance and recommendations related to organizational development, succession planning, risk management, and employee engagement.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve HR policies, procedures, systems, and processes to ensure efficient, compliant, and customer-focused services.
  • Oversee agency-wide recruitment, hiring, retention, onboarding, and employee development strategies to attract and retain a qualified workforce.
  • Provide consultation and support to managers and supervisors regarding employee relations, performance management, conflict resolution, investigations, and workplace concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, licensing requirements, accreditation standards, and agency policies.
  • Oversee employment compliance areas including leave administration, workers’ compensation, workplace safety, audits, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead compensation and benefits strategies, including classification reviews, market analysis, benefits administration, and recommendations for organizational needs.
  • Develop and analyze HR metrics, reports, and dashboards to identify trends and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR operations through technology, innovation, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop Human Resources staff while fostering accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
  • Represent RCS in community partnerships, workforce development activities, professional organizations, and employment-related matters.
  • Participate in agency-wide initiatives, events, trainings, and special projects as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
