About The Position

This role is essential to translate strategy into a fully defined implementation plan, cost model, and staffing model prior to Epic engagement. Epic does not account for all implementation costs (e.g., go-live support, infrastructure, service desk scaling). This role ensures the organization has a complete and defensible funding model and implementation plan.

Requirements

  • Minimum: 10–12 years healthcare IT
  • At least 5–8 years leading large-scale implementations or programs
  • Experience as Program Director, Senior Engagement Manager, or Transformation Lead
  • Epic Implementation Experience (critical)
  • Direct experience with Epic implementations (multi-hospital strongly preferred)
  • Experience in at least one of: Community Connect, Enterprise rollout, Large-scale module expansion
  • Built implementation roadmaps (not just executed them)
  • Defined scope, timeline, and sequencing
  • Experience translating requirements to build plan
  • Experience developing full lifecycle cost models
  • Cost models must include implementation AND non-implementation costs
  • Ability to identify what vendors (like Epic) do NOT include
  • Built staffing models for implementation, go-live support (at-the-elbow), and post-go-live sustainment
  • Must understand VDI / Citrix environments
  • Must understand service desk scaling (ServiceNow or equivalent)
  • Must understand integration architecture (HL7/FHIR concepts)

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: 12–15+ years healthcare IT
  • Program / Delivery Leadership
  • PMP (Program Management Professional)
  • PMP (expected baseline)

Responsibilities

  • Lead Epic readiness and implementation planning across DMHAS and partner hospitals
  • Analyze Epic workbooks to define scope, complexity drivers, and timeline assumptions
  • Determine module scope (e.g., Wisdom, Cupid, Rehab, LTC, etc.)
  • Build comprehensive cost model, including Epic costs and NON-Epic costs (go-live support, service desk, infrastructure, integration)
  • Develop staffing model across all phases: Pre-implementation, Implementation, Go-live support, Post-go-live sustainment
  • Define implementation waves and sequencing
  • Define infrastructure readiness (Citrix/VDI, ServiceNow, integration)
  • Align all inputs into a cohesive implementation roadmap and funding request
