About The Position

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Dartmouth Health is seeking a Board-Certified Physician to act as the Program Director for the Emergency Medicine Residency Program. The Program Director will provide strategic leadership, administration, and oversight of all aspects of the residency program in accordance with ACGME requirements. You will be responsible for upholding excellence in resident education, faculty engagement, clinical training, and program accreditation, while fostering an inclusive, academically rigorous environment. In addition, you will maintain an active clinical role, providing direct patient care and supervising trainees in the Emergency Department. The Program Director will work collaboratively with department Chair and leadership, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center’s GME leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to advance the mission of education, research, and clinical care. As we continue to expand and invest in our educational mission, we would also welcome applications from experienced educators interested in other potential education-based leadership roles.

Requirements

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Emergency Medicine residency
  • Board certified in Emergency Medicine
  • Eligible for unrestricted state medical license, DEA registration, and hospital privileges
  • Specialty expertise and at least 3 years of documented educational and/or administrative experience
  • Ability to relate to and deal effectively with physicians, nursing, applied health, administrators, support staff and the general public with a high degree of tact and discretion.
  • Proven communication and presentation skills. Ability to interact with providers, frontline staff and external stakeholders in small and large group venues.
  • Positive, effective and respectful communicator
  • Ongoing clinical activity consistent with their specialty
