Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare management, Behavioral Health, or in related field Required
  • In Lieu of the bachelor's degree, an associate degree with an additional two (2) years of relevant work experience will be accepted in addition to the experience requirement below. Required
  • 7 years of recent experience in behavioral health, healthcare management, med/surg setting or related field of which at least two (2) years must be in a direct management role over healthcare professionals and/or leadership role Required
  • 9 years of experience required with an associate's degree. Required

  • Master's Degree Preferred
  • Current state licensure in clinical field Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic leadership to foster the growth, clinical excellence, financial strength, and operational efficiency of Behavioral Health Services.
  • Designs, develops, and implements a strategic plan that promotes the program's economic health and operational performance while facilitating successful expansion.
  • Leads a multidisciplinary Behavioral Health team and collaborates closely with the Medical Director, nursing leadership, and entity leadership staff to maintain an effective and collaborative clinical environment.
  • Oversees overall operations, ensuring that goals and objectives align with Behavioral Health leadership, facility leadership, and Piedmont system leadership.
  • Selects, assesses, develops, coaches, and counsels Behavioral Health staff to align with Piedmont’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Fosters a collaborative and supportive environment to promote high standards of care and team performance.
  • Motivates, leads, and mentors a high-performance team; attracts, recruits, and retains staff with a strong emphasis on employee engagement.
  • Participates in recruitment for all positions needed for BH programs.
  • Monitors and assesses department productivity; evaluates staffing and provides input for proformas.
  • Develops and implements clinical programs that meet patient needs and align with organizational goals.
  • Oversees both inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services, ensuring seamless integration and continuity of care.
  • Collaborates with RN leadership and medical providers to create a clinically excellent and supportive environment.
  • Ensures local intake processes are efficient, effective, and clinically sound.
  • Facilitates integration of new applications and upgrades as appropriate.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Implements quality assurance measures and conducts regular reviews to maintain high standards of clinical practice.
  • Supports the hospital’s continuous quality improvement plan and coordinates BH quality initiatives with the facility.
  • Oversees Utilization Review (UR) processes for local programs to ensure appropriate care and resource use.
  • Oversees financial performance, including budgeting, resource allocation, and cost management.
  • Reviews operating results, compares to objectives, and takes corrective actions as needed.
  • Provides timely, accurate, and complete reports on service operations and performance metrics.
  • Proficient in Tableau dashboards to report and monitor operational metrics.
  • Identifies opportunities for new behavioral health services and enhancements to existing programs that better meet the evolving needs of the community.
  • Leads the planning and implementation of new service lines or program expansions, ensuring alignment with community needs, clinical best practices, and organizational strategy.
  • Collaborates closely with finance and operations teams to develop comprehensive, data-driven business cases that support proposed initiatives.
  • Monitors market trends, patient feedback, and service utilization data to inform strategic decisions and ensure the program remains responsive and relevant.
  • Ensures that all growth initiatives are executed with operational excellence, fiscal responsibility, and measurable outcomes.
  • Represents the Behavioral Health Service Line professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develops and maintains communication tools and outreach strategies to connect the community with BH services.
  • Partners with community outreach and education to promote BH services through conferences, workshops, and events.
  • Works with other departments and community partners to integrate behavioral health services for comprehensive care.
  • Cultivates positive relationships across the organization, including medical staff and executive leadership.
  • Provides support and expertise to other departments and leadership as needed.
  • Participates in cross-functional teams and contributes to organizational initiatives.
