About The Position

The Program Director is a faculty member with an administrative appointment responsible for managing the Anesthesiologist Assistant program. This role involves classroom instruction, daily program operations, guiding students to successful completion, and ensuring instructors align with the University's mission. The Program Director shares responsibility with the Campus Director and Dean of Academic Affairs and Operations for the program's financial health, educational aspects, and enrollment growth.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two years of successful performance in a full-time university-level teaching role.
  • Prior management experience in higher education or in another organization within the program director’s discipline.
  • Anesthesiologist Assistant certified by the NCCAA or its successor.
  • Hold a graduate degree in education, administration, medicine, or the medical basic sciences.
  • Possess the requisite knowledge and skills to administer the classroom/academic aspects of the program.
  • Possess the requisite knowledge and skills to administer the operation of the overall program.
  • Ability to read, understand, interpret, and implement accreditation criteria and state agency regulations.
  • Ability to resolve inquiries and complaints from employees, students, regulatory agencies, or members of the academic or business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to faculty, academic and campus leaders, corporate leaders, and public groups.
  • Experience with computerized administrative systems.
  • Proficient with the use of standard office applications on personal computers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform instructional duties as assigned.
  • Select and develop a Program Advisory Council (PAC) that meets at least once per year.
  • Participate in faculty development each year as required.
  • Select, train, develop, manage, and lead regular and adjunct faculty.
  • Administer and grow the Anesthesiologist Assistant program, including curriculum development, student registration/advisement, community relations, and campus relations.
  • Support University programs designed to achieve student completion rates.
  • Collaborate with other Academic Program Directors and the Department Chair regarding scheduling, faculty sharing, and curriculum.
  • Notify relevant parties of any substantive changes within the program, institutional accreditation status, or legal authority to provide postsecondary education.
  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and accrediting body standards and regulations, as well as all policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate the submission of required programmatic fees and documentation, including reports of graduation rates, performance on state licensing or certification examinations, and employment rates.
  • Assure compliance with accreditation criteria.
  • In the absence of a Department Chair, co-responsible with the Dean of the College of Health Professions for accreditation activities.
  • Supervise faculty and administrative staff supporting the Anesthesiologist Assistant program.
  • Organize, administer, continuously review, plan, and develop processes for the general effectiveness of didactic education.
  • Maintain regular contact with all entities involved in student education.
  • Ensure continuous and competent medical guidance for clinically related program components.
  • Ensure continuous and competent educational guidance is provided for the didactic demands of the clinical educational environment.
  • Perform other responsibilities as determined by the Campus Director, Dean of Academic Affairs and Operations, and Department Chair.
