About The Position

Hawthorne Foundation Inc. serves children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities. Our educational, vocational and life skills programs are only a few of the programs available. We also offer parent training, recreational activities and crisis intervention. Requirements

  • Master’s Degree preferred in Education or Behavior Psychology with experience in DD/OPWDD (Bachelor's Degree with experience can be considered).
  • Work Experience in the field of Developmental Disabilities’ OPWDD.
  • Must have Registered Behavior Technician credential or in process of obtaining within 3 months.
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst, MA in ABA or 15 credits in ABA preferred (or working towards).
  • Knowledge of educational, behavioral procedures, principles and technology.
  • Knowledge of educational/treatment planning.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of the Individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews pre-placement, psychological, educational, residential, social, and medical assessments and makes recommendations to the Coordinating Team regarding the appropriateness of placement for meeting an Individual’s needs.
  • Ongoing review of Individuals Life Plans to ensure appropriateness of placement, goals and objectives, educational methods, and related services.
  • Reviews Staff Action Plans to ensure compliance with existing regulations and agency philosophy.
  • Conducts reviews to ensure the individuals are served according to Individual Life Plans and IPP goals.
  • Participates in Human Rights Committee Meetings to present individual's behavioral data, address and discuss the issues and to follow up on the recommendations made by the Committee.
  • Reviews incidents involving behavioral issues.
  • Observes staff interaction with individuals, provide feedback, collects data.
  • Develops and trains staff in behavioral principles and technology and individualize behavior programs.
  • Ensures proper oversight of behavior programs, and of training for staff and Individuals.
  • Intervenes in “special” Individual cases that require non-routine procedures.
  • Participates in Initial In-service Training for new employees with regards to Behavioral principles and technology.
  • Conducts Functional Behavior Assessments for individuals in the program as needed.
  • Writes, trains, and implements behavior support plans as needed for individuals in the program.
  • Ensures proper daily behavior and education programs occur and are aligned with individual valued outcomes.
  • Review and assist Day Habilitation Community Program Coordinator in ensuring that the Program is meeting documentation compliance requirements with all regulatory agencies.
  • On-going development and monitoring of Individual Programming.
  • On-going Staff Training and supervision.
  • Mentoring Day Hab Specialists and Day Hab Specialist’s development of goals.
  • Conducts individualized criterion referenced inventories of behavior repertoires (assessments) for all individuals on an annual basis.
  • Analyze individual progress on a daily or moment-to-moment basis.
  • Development of curricula and behavior procedures to be followed in the program.
  • Assure appropriate scheduling and staff coverage in assigned groups.
  • Assists with the transition and updating of Agency-wide technology systems to meet all security, compliance, and regulations of state and federal agencies; Medicaid and OPWDD.
  • Conduct ongoing staff training on recording and inputting data of EHR (Electronic Health Records) into the IT platform system.
  • Ensure compliance with Medicaid billing procedures.
  • Follow agency Policy and Procedures for EHR.
  • Follows all Hawthorne Foundation Inc. Policies and Procedures.
  • Implements all individual valued outcomes, and oversees the implementation of these outcomes by Direct Care Staff.
  • Reviews goal books for compliance of all behavior programs.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as necessary.
  • Directly responsible for all individuals health, safety, and welfare.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities when assigned and reports to the Day Habilitation Community Program Coordinator and Adult Programs Behavioral Supervisor.
  • Participates in creating schedules to staff in all groups assigned supervision.
