About The Position

Under limited supervision, this position performs professional public health services of considerable difficulty in planning, implementation, and evaluation of assigned public health program(s). This position is responsible for managing multiple funding sources, coordinating services, and ensuring that program goals align with public health objectives.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in public health, Education or closely related field.
Two (2) years of experience in teaching or facilitating trainings, preferably in a public health or classroom setting.
Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license.
Requires successful completion of a background check.
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a fingerprint clearance card within 3 months of hire.
Knowledge of public health principles and practices.
Knowledge of health sciences including health maintenance, promotion and prevention.
Knowledge of principles of health education and counseling.
Knowledge of evidence-based prevention strategies related to youth development, prevention education or health promotion.
Knowledge of principles of epidemiology.
Knowledge of community assessment and resources.
Knowledge of individual/community health assessment.
Knowledge of planning, implementing and evaluating interventions and coordinating services.
Knowledge of basic principles of budget monitoring, reporting, and record keeping.
Skill in speaking to clients of varying backgrounds.
Skill in communicating complex ideas in clear, understandable terms.
Skill in public speaking.
Skill in using computers and software.
Skill in communicating both verbally and in writing.
Skill in conducting a variety of training programs in assigned areas.
Ability to supervise and coordinate service for a group of clients or target population in a public health program.
Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow–up on assignments.
Ability to understand, interpret and apply all pertinent laws, regulations, policies and procedures to work performed.
Ability to establish program standards and evaluate performance.
Ability to use initiative and judgment in program management.
Ability to abbreviate impact of interventions on health status of client/community.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including other employees, agencies, and the public.

Responsibilities

Plans, coordinates, and implements assigned public health program(s).
Develops and administers contracts, scope of work, work plans, policies and procedures.
Continuously evaluates program effectiveness.
Manages program activities funded through various sources, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, budget, and reporting standards.
Monitors program supplies/inventory, within established authority, and purchases items needed for program operations in compliance with procurement/grant guidelines.
Facilitates community-based presentations in various settings and to diverse audiences.
Develops partnerships with local schools, community organizations, coalitions, and state and federal agencies to implement programs and expand outreach.
Participates in meetings, workgroups, and other activities related to program goals and activities.
Provides supervision and technical direction to assigned staff.
Oversees work activities to ensure they are properly conducted and provides training on program operations.
Monitors and evaluates program performance.
Prepares and submits monthly and quarterly reports, ensuring alignment of program activities with broader public health goals and strategies.
Works with public health and community partners to integrate Policy, Systems, and Environmental (PSE) changes into program initiatives.
Assists in grant writing and resource development to secure additional funding for program sustainability and expansion.
Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
