About The Position

For over 50 years, Bet Tzedek Legal Services has provided high-quality, free legal services to Los Angeles’ most vulnerable residents. Bet Tzedek seeks a Program Coordinator to join Bet Tzedek’s Kinship/SIJS and Foster Youth Immigration Team. Pro Bono support is a key facet of Bet Tzedek’s immigration practice. This team member will provide logistical support and technical assistance in placing immigration matters with our Pro Bono partners. The ideal candidate will possess the interpersonal and organizational skills to thrive and deliver effective support to the immigration team and Pro Bono partners. Daily tasks will include drafting external facing Pro Bono placement memos for immigration matters including tasks at USCIS, EOIR and federal litigation, creating how-to guides for various immigration matters, updating resources in accordance with changing immigration policy, WIX website management, supporting Pro Bono training, providing technical assistance with accessing Pro Bono training materials, coordinating Pro Bono placements for the immigration teams and assisting with grant reporting requirements. This position is eligible for Bet Tzedek Legal Services’ hybrid/remote workplace designation. While the primary workplace is Bet Tzedek’s offices, at the discretion of the immediate supervisor, the employee may be permitted to work remotely or may be required to work in other locations depending on workload/business obligations. Candidates must be located in the Southern California region and able to commute if needed.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree (required).
  • Ease with oral and written communication in, and ability to provide oral interpretation and written translation to and from, English and Spanish (required).
  • Excellent time management, project management, and problem-solving skills (required).
  • Exceptionally organized and self-motivated, with excellent attention to details (required).
  • Excellent people skills (required) and experience in working with clients in crisis or distress (strongly preferred).
  • Willingness to train and work with volunteer attorneys and students (required).

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one (1) years of experience working in a professional office setting (preferred).
  • Experience with pro per services (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Legal Server or other cloud-based case management system (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Support Justice for Children and Families team in placing immigration matters with Pro bono partners.
  • Draft external facing materials including Pro Bono placement memos and Pro Bono Resources.
  • Create training materials for immigration matters and curate a WIX site housing Pro Bono training resources.
  • Communicate (via phone, e-mail, mail) with clients, staff and pro bono partners.
  • Prepare and organize correspondence, communications, reports, and other documents, using various software, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Lawyaw.
  • Assist with the administrative aspects of updating Legal Server.
  • Maintain well-organized files and records.
  • Monitor and triage incoming communications.
  • Perform clerical work, including but not limited to photocopying, scanning, filing, and mailing.
  • Participate and/or lead in in-person and virtual community outreach workshops and education events.
  • Support supervisor with data and grant reporting.
  • Coordinate with internal staff to support Justice for Children and Families team as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
