About The Position

This is a SCHEV-position that facilitates educational opportunity, access and degree completion for low-income students in all Virginia Tech majors. The coordinator will inform prospective students and their families about post-secondary education opportunities; help prepare students for a smooth high school-to-college transition; advocate for Pell-eligible students participating in the CAC pre-college programs and gather data and assist with program evaluation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to work with multiple constituents throughout the state and region
  • Experience working with underrepresented and underserved students and their families
  • Travel and the ability to work some evenings and weekends
  • Criminal conviction check

  • Virginia Tech knowledge through education or work experience
  • Experience with college access, student success and retention strategies
  • Familiarity with federal financial aid programs
  • Basic data analysis skills
