About The Position
AFS-USA is seeking On-Site Program Coordinators to lead the 2026 AFS Global STEM Innovators program – a week-long, full-scholarship experience for 30 U.S. high school students. The On-Site Program Coordinators will facilitate the AFS Effect+ Workshop sessions as well as lead hands-on activities, and excursions that provide exposure to STEM, resource development and global competency topics.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Experience with teens (e.g., camp counselor, teaching, coaching, volunteer work, etc.)
- Strong interpersonal skills - with ability to relate well to both youth and to other staff
- Ability to facilitate educational learning sessions and lead group activities
- Ability to both organize and manage groups of 15+ high school students
Nice To Haves
- Prior AFS, Resident Assistant (RA), or Camp Counselor experience and training preferred
- First Aid and/or CPR certification preferred, but not required
Responsibilities
- Facilitate AFS Effect+ Workshops and STEM-focused activities
- Support students’ adjustment and personal growth
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment
- Lead daily logistics, excursions, and group reflections
- Live on campus and be available to support participants 24/7
