About The Position

This is a temporary position with the NC Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services - Farmland Preservation. Temporary employees are not offered leave or retirement benefits, but may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) if they work an average of 30 or more hours per week. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to practice effective communication in oral and written form.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and implement policy and procedural guidelines.
  • Ability to learn the purpose of the program's organization including its mission, services, clients and measures of business effectiveness.
  • Skill in organizing workflow and coordinating activities.

Responsibilities

  • Review, evaluate, and approve appraisals, surveys, baseline documentation reports, environmental assessments, and land management documents required by the Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund (ADFPTF) during the administration of grants for agricultural conservation easements.
  • Conduct outreach, communications, and training for conservation easement partners on the proper procedures and technical processes involved in developing these documents for a successful and ADFPTF-approved conservation easement.
  • Serve as an advisor to NCDA&CS leadership on technical and programmatic farm and agricultural programs utilized by federal, state, and local program partners.
