About The Position

This is a temporary position with the NC Dept of Commerce - Utilities, located in Raleigh, NC. It offers administrative support by providing excellent customer service to internal and external parties interacting with the Chief Clerk’s office. The role involves expediting orders, reserving dockets, and processing filings through electronic and USPS mail channels, aiming to minimize errors. The position will ensure quality processing of consumer filings for Reports of Proposed Construction (ROPCs) for roof-top solar installations, Water Reseller Pass-Through Rate Increase Applications, Public Staff Memorandums, and Commission Orders. This temporary position qualifies for part-time teleworking under the Department of Commerce Teleworking Program, subject to the program's policy and employer discretion. Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their current role to accept this temporary position. All temporary employees are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time. Individuals hired into a temporary State job must be fully qualified. OSHR supports the Governor's Job Ready initiative, aiming to enhance temporary employees' skill sets for future State government and private sector jobs. Exposure to an agency's culture, processes, and procedures can provide valuable experience for those seeking permanent state employment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to practice effective communication in oral and written form
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Adobe Acrobat
