About The Position

The SCDE Office of Health and Nutrition is seeking a motivated individual for the position of Program Coordinator I, with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Distribution Program. Under general supervision, this role performs tasks associated with daily operations of the USDA Commodity Food Distribution Program (FDP). Utilize various online platforms to monitor the delivery and allocation of USDA commodities to the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE)/Office of Health and Nutrition (OHN) state contracted warehouse(s). Assist FDP Team Lead with various tasks including planning, ordering, and monitoring all aspects of the commodities programs and donated foods. Will use statistical data and interpret USDA guidance to improve donated food allocations and distribution system.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and relevant program experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage multiple complex processes, identify risk areas and escalate to leadership.
  • Assist with the ordering, logistical planning/shipping, and tracking of USDA donated foods.
  • Confer as required with food service supervisor, federal agency office, vendor warehouses and other state food distribution agency personnel to balance priorities for optimal outcome.
  • Compile, analyze, summarize and interpret statistical data.
  • Make recommendations to leadership for process improvement to enhance the monitoring of donated food allocations processes as well as food distribution systems.
  • Develop complex electronic spreadsheets with formulas to streamline work efforts.
  • Review and analyze Processor Monthly Performance Reports (MPR) to assure that Recipient Agencies (RA) are receiving and using the maximum amount of end product from the raw product that was diverted to the processor.
  • Develop/prepare federal and state reports consisting of requisitions, surveys, receipts, commodity acceptability reports, surplus and bonus goods and other reports as required by Federal regulations.
  • Monitor RAs for compliance with all Federal and State requirements.
  • Coordinate and implement the semi-annual and annual on-site reviews and reconciliation at the state contracted distributor warehouse(s) to ensure regulatory compliance and to provide technical assistance for process improvement.
  • Prepare responses to requests for statistical data and provide interpretation of statistical procedures to department and other personnel.
  • Develop and maintain a high-level of work product with minimal errors.
  • Assist with planning and staffing for emergency preparedness efforts for the SCDE’s support of the ESF 11 Mass Feeding initiative in the event of an emergency.
