About The Position

The University of Virginia's Division of Student Affairs is seeking a Program Coordinator for Student Engagement to support students by promoting leadership development, connecting them to resources, cultivating their passions, and building community. This role involves managing Student Engagement Marketing operations, planning and executing programming at Newcomb Info Desk and the Student Engagement Center, and supporting the daily operations of Newcomb Hall by overseeing the Info Desk. The Program Coordinator is part of the Event Staff team and will collaborate with various units within the Division of Student Affairs. This is a full-time, twelve-month University Managerial and Professional Staff position with benefits.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Higher Education, Student Affairs Administration, or other discipline.

  • Experience leading, hiring, training, and managing a team of either full-time or part-time staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Newcomb Hall Info Desk, including CIO print requests, lost & found, staff vehicle checkout, and addressing community needs.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Newcomb Hall Info Desk staff, including Event Staff Student Managers.
  • Coordinate with Event Staff supervisors to recruit, hire, train, and supervise Event Staff Student Managers.
  • Develop and maintain Newcomb Info Desk standards, processes, and operations.
  • Initiate time-relevant communications for the Newcomb Info Desk operations.
  • Serve as a liaison for Newcomb Info Desk and Newcomb Hall standards, processes, and operations.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Student Engagement to manage and support the marketing and branding of all Student Engagement areas (1515 Student Center, Student Organizations, Leadership & Service).
  • Develop and deliver marketing materials related to the Student Engagement brand, services, and opportunities.
  • Build and execute marketing strategies through research, benchmarking, and coordination with relevant stakeholders.
  • Utilize a variety of digital and traditional marketing channels to ensure maximum reach across the student body, including Instagram, tabling, and newsletters.
  • Develop and implement activities and events at the Newcomb Info Desk and in the Student Engagement Center to promote opportunities for student learning, development, and University engagement.
  • Select, hire, train, and evaluate Student Engagement Program Assistants.
  • Provide support for Student Engagement programs and services.
  • Assist with University events including summer orientation, Wahoo Welcome, Family Weekend, and Final Exercises.
  • Assist in the facilitation of Student Engagement programs and events, which may include late nights and weekends.
  • Assess programs, events, and trainings for effectiveness, making necessary adjustments.
  • Assist with student support and continuity of University operations in the event of an emergency and/or related institutional closure.
  • Propose budgets, track expenses, and ensure adherence to set limits.
  • Assist in developing departmental goals, objectives, and budgets.
  • Serve on Office, Division, and University committees as assigned.
