About The Position

This position will be responsible for supporting the needs of the Child Center and State Pre-K/Preschool Development grant programs as defined by the Child Center Director. This position will be responsible for overseeing both indoor and outdoor environments and completing bi-annual documented classroom observations. As the Child and Family Center is a NAEYC accredited, QRIS rated and Pyramid Model Implementation center, this position will require assistance with adhering to all NAEYC, QRIS and Pyramid Model requirements. The position is located in Elko, Nevada. The position reports to the Great Basin College Child and Family Center Director.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Early Childhood Education or other related field (including management and/or leadership) with an additional Early Childhood Education Endorsement.
  • Three to five years of Early Childhood Education classroom experience.
  • Evidence of strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of computers including the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated organizational, planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond, make decisions and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, every changing environment.
  • Mastery of NAEYC Accreditation, QRIS and Pyramid Model requirements.
  • Nevada Registry generalist trainer – or working towards certification.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain NAEYC, QRIS, and Pyramid Model standards for all classrooms.
  • Administer environmental assessments for all classrooms on a quarterly basis and/or as needed and provide feedback to staff and Director.
  • Provide coaching for Lead Teachers, Assistants and Aids based on NAEYC, QRIS, and Pyramid Model tools and requirements.
  • Assist with all required trainings, Open Houses, Family Engagement events, and all end-of-year programs and graduations.
  • Model attitudes, behaviors, and techniques which contribute to the overall harmonious operation of the program.
  • Promote positive public relations with all contacts within and outside of the Child and Family Center.
  • Participation in Child Center Advisory Board, faculty senate and other committees.
  • Provide teachers with support as needed.
  • Administrative duties to included but not limited to: enrolling students in classes; maintaining the filings system of student health records and employee files; front desk reception; track, invoice and collect tuition payments; posting and depositing program payments and tracking delinquent accounts; maintaining inventory and replenishing office and school supplies.
  • Other duties appropriate to the position as assigned by the Director.
  • The position may require driving to other GBC campuses, with or without reasonable accommodation as per the Americans with Disabilities Act, with possible overnight stays to coordinate students and programs throughout the service area.
  • There must be a commitment to the GBC mission to serve rural Nevada.
