About The Position

The Program Consultant (Weekend Option) provides comprehensive consultation, supervision, and training services to the staff of the Residential Treatment Center (RTC). This role involves conducting regular in-home visits for observation and training, assisting youth home staff with intake processes, individual treatment plans, and program development. The consultant acts as a direct liaison between youth homes and the central administrative office, addressing needs and concerns. Key responsibilities also include assisting Directors with pre-service workshop training, staff professional evaluations, and quality control programs. The consultant has primary involvement in annual performance evaluations of supervised staff, assists with youth admissions and Medicaid approvals, and serves on the admissions committee. Additionally, the role supports staff recruitment and selection, makes presentations about agency programs, develops and administers annual service delivery plans for youth homes, and participates in relevant professional organizations. The position requires providing 24-hour emergency consultation to youth homes and serving on the Quality Improvement committee.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Proven ability as a self-motivator.
  • Aptitude to work in a high stress, fast paced position with minimal amount of supervision.
  • TFM Certification required.
  • Good auditory, visual and olfactory ability.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time and intermittently walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach with hands and arms.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Ability to maintain effective audio, visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, and reading and writing, and operating office equipment and other treatment equipment.
  • Ability to use a telephone to communicate verbally and a computer to communicate through written means, to review information and enter/retrieve data, to see and read characters on a computer screen, chart or other treatment items.
  • Strength and stamina to perform clinical duties.
  • Flu shot is mandatory and required for all positions (subject to qualified exemptions).

Nice To Haves

  • Degree from an accredited University, preferred, but experience may substitute for some education.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience working with youth is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides consultation, supervision, in-service training, pre-service training, and related support services to the staff of the RTC.
  • Makes regular in-home visits for observation and training.
  • Assists youth home staff with youth intake, individual treatment plans, and program development.
  • Provides a direct conduit to the central administrative office for youth home needs and concerns.
  • Assists Director of the TC and/or Director of Residential Services with the development, production, and presentation of pre-service workshop training on an as needed basis.
  • Assists with the production and delivery of staff’s professional evaluation and other data collection and quality control programs on an as needed basis.
  • Has primary involvement in the annual performance evaluations of the staff under his/her supervision.
  • Assists Director for the Treatment Center with evaluation and recommending youth admissions into the facility.
  • May conduct admissions on occasion and assist with Medicaid approval for admissions and/or continued stays.
  • Serves on admissions committee for purpose of critiquing all youth applicants.
  • Assists with the recruitment and selection of staff.
  • Make presentations and interprets agency programs at professional conferences and to community agencies, and organizations within the geographical area under their supervision.
  • Develops and administers an annual service delivery plan for youth homes and provides detailed documentation of all activities.
  • Is a member and active participant in the Teaching Family Association and other relevant local and national organizations.
  • Provides 24-hour emergency consultation to youth homes.
  • Serves as a member of the Quality Improvement committee and maintains appointed joint commission standard/section as assigned by the Director of the RTC.
  • Provides other related functions as assigned.
