About The Position

The mission of the Florida Department of Military Affairs (DMA) is to provide management oversight of the Florida National Guard and provide units and personnel ready to support national security objectives; to protect the public safety of citizens and to contribute to the national, state and community programs that add value to the United States of America and to the State of Florida. This position is assigned to the Joint Force Headquarters (State) under the Military and Family Readiness Directorate (J-1), Support Programs Division. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Child & Youth Program Coordinator (CYPC) responsible for executing day-to-day operations, youth development events, and community outreach for the state’s Child & Youth Services (CYS) program supporting National Guard dependents (ages 6–18).

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management or related field; AND
One (1) year of professional, full-time-equivalent experience in the coordination of youth programs or related field.
Must be able to obtain a completion of a favorable National Agency Check background investigation clearance.
Good communication (verbal/written)
Good interpersonal skills
Basic computer skills
Familiar with Microsoft Windows and other Microsoft software applications, including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
Familiar with FAX machines/photocopiers
Basic telephone communication skills and technical skills (forwarding, conference)
Ability to use Internet
Experience with the military (prior service, military family member, military volunteer)

Responsibilities

Executes CYS events, including state youth leadership forums, youth development training, teen panels, and youth symposiums in accordance with the CYS SOP.
Manages site logistics, venue contracts, transportation, and procurement of supplies/training materials for youth camps and deployment support events.
Coordinates directly with the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program (YRRP) to execute youth programming.
Assists in building and maintaining local, state, and federal networks to support geographically dispersed youth.
Promotes the CYS program through local marketing plans and digital media.
Serves as a point of contact for families seeking information on DoD childcare fee assistance and youth resource directories.
Recruits, screens, and managing specified and non-specified volunteers.
Conducts volunteer training on child abuse prevention, safety protocols, and appropriate discipline techniques.
Tracks volunteer hours and ensures compliance with DoDI 1402.5 background checks.
Familiarizes with all applicable DoD, Army, NGB, and ARNG guidelines.
Compiles statistical data, tracks local event expenditures, and prepares requisition requests.
Completes monthly reports and after-action reports (AARs) for consolidation by the Lead CYPC and submission to the SFPD.
