About The Position

The mission of the Louisiana Department of Health is to protect and promote health and to ensure access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitative services for all residents of the State of Louisiana. Requirements

  • Six years of experience in administrative services, public health, social services, or health services; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus three years of experience in administrative services, public health, social services, or health services; OR A bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in administrative services, public health, social services, or health services; OR An advanced degree in a social science field, public health, counseling, social work, rehabilitation services, business, public, or health administration, or Juris Doctorate plus two years of experience in administrative services, public health, social services, or health services.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, interprets, and issues statewide SNAP policies, procedures, and guidance to ensure consistent and compliant program administration.
  • Provides technical assistance and expert guidance to field staff, program partners, and stakeholders regarding SNAP eligibility, policies, procedures, and complex program issues.
  • Supports eligibility system enhancements by identifying system needs, reviewing proposed changes, participating in testing, and assisting with implementation.
  • Analyzes program operations, identifies trends and problem areas, and recommends corrective actions and process improvements to reduce errors and strengthen program performance.
  • Develops and coordinates training and informational resources to communicate policy changes, system updates, and program requirements to staff statewide.
  • Supports program integrity activities, federal reviews, audits, special projects, and required reports to ensure compliance with federal and state requirements.
  • Serves as a liaison with USDA-FNS, LDH leadership, field staff, other state agencies, and program partners while researching and responding to legislative, executive, client, and stakeholder inquiries.
