About The Position

This inaugural Program Chair position will lead the development and launch of the Mental Health Counseling (MMHC) program from inception through accreditation and implementation. The Chair will provide strategic, academic, and operational leadership for all aspects of program development, ensuring alignment with accreditation standards, institutional requirements, and professional best practices. As the founding leader of the MMHC program, the Chair will play a critical role in shaping the program's vision, establishing its reputation, building community and professional partnerships, and creating a sustainable foundation for long-term growth and accreditation success.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Counselor Education and Supervision, or a closely related field, from a regionally accredited institution
  • Current, unrestricted licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or equivalent credential
  • Minimum of five (5) years of combined experience in clinical mental health counseling practice and higher education teaching
  • Demonstrated experience with CACREP accreditation standards and processes
  • Proven experience in academic program leadership, faculty supervision, or academic administration

Responsibilities

  • Designing and developing the curriculum
  • Creating policies, procedures, and assessment processes that support program quality and continuous improvement
  • Establishing systems that ensure compliance with all accreditation standards
  • Preparing and submitting accreditation applications and reports
  • Overseeing the collection and analysis of assessment data
  • Implementing quality assurance processes to support ongoing accreditation success
  • Recruiting, hiring, onboarding, supervising, and evaluating faculty and subject matter experts, fostering a collaborative culture of academic excellence and student success
  • Working closely with university leadership, admissions, student services, and instructional design teams to develop program infrastructure, support enrollment growth, and ensure a successful program launch
