About The Position

Leggett & Platt is seeking a Program Buyer to execute category strategies within program perimeters, ensuring all major program deliverables (cost, quality, timing, service, etc.) are met. This role involves preparing and presenting sourcing committee documentation, executing contracts, and managing the interface between programs and suppliers. The Program Buyer will collaborate with suppliers to identify cost-saving and design improvement ideas, manage costs and timing during product development, and provide essential support and updates to the program core team.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed technical or business degree with a strong technical understanding or an equivalent education.
  • First professional experience in international procurement and technical products in the automotive industry.
  • Good communication ability and excellent negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and pronounced solution orientation as well as in global teams across different departments.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory, additional languages are preferable (e.g. local language).
  • Good Excel and Power Point skills as well as experience in Business Intelligence-Software.
  • Willingness for international travel and intercultural understanding - Global Mindset.
  • Basic knowledge of commercial contract law.
  • Customer-oriented thinking and acting as well as high adherence to timelines.
  • Understanding of the processes according to ISO 9001 / IATF 16949, VDA 6.3.
  • Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes and experience in interpreting and analyzing a CBD.
  • Someone who is able and willing to source a newly developed product.

Responsibilities

  • Executing the category strategy within the program perimeter, at the direction of the Category Manager(s).
  • Achieving all major program deliverables (cost, quality, timing, service, etc.)
  • Preparing and presenting sourcing committee documentation, to be validated and approved by the Sourcing Committee.
  • Executing contracts reflecting the results of sourcing initiatives that adequately manage business and supply risks with appropriate legal terms and conditions.
  • Managing the interface between the Program and the Suppliers; work with Category management to integrate suppliers as early as possible in the program.
  • Work with selected suppliers to propose design / cost improvement ideas to benefit the program.
  • Managing cost and timing during the product development, in conjunction with Supplier Development.
  • Providing the necessary support, information, and updates to the program core team.
