About The Position

The Program Buyer is responsible for sourcing and procuring raw materials, components, tooling, and capital equipment to support new program launches and ongoing plant operations. This role develops and manages supplier relationships across North America, Europe, and Asia, ensuring alignment with cost, quality, and delivery targets. The Program Buyer partners cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, and Materials teams to support program success and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • University degree in Business Administration, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 3 years of purchasing experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with North American and European suppliers; global sourcing experience preferred
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written); additional languages considered an asset
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards

Responsibilities

  • Support new program launches by developing cost estimates and supplier quotes for RFQs
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop new suppliers to meet program and operational requirements
  • Manage supplier performance related to cost, quality, and delivery; lead issue resolution as needed
  • Coordinate procurement and logistics planning for program components and capital equipment
  • Lead cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement projects at the enterprise level
  • Collaborate with Engineering on tooling procurement and support tooling audit activities
  • Partner with Quality to ensure supplier compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards
  • Prepare and support required corporate reporting and documentation
  • Support cross-functional projects within the Materials team
  • Maintain awareness of customer-specific requirements related to purchasing activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
