About The Position

Meals on Wheels People is seeking a highly motivated individual with a positive attitude and excellent organizational skills to join our Meals 4 Kids team in the role of On Call Program Assistant. The ideal candidate will have a passion for making a difference in the community, working in a client-facing role and is highly dependable and proactive. If you are self-driven, enjoy working in a diverse team environment and providing customer service, Meals on Wheels People is the place for you! On an on-call basis, responsible to assist with preparation, packaging and delivery of meals, training and scheduling of volunteers, packing, pick-up and delivery activities and maintenance of accurate records for Meals 4 Kids participants and volunteers. Complete administrative tasks as assigned.

Requirements

Ability to work with and manage volunteers.
Strong organizational, record keeping, time management and multi-tasking skills including the ability to set priorities and be flexible to last-minute changes.
Ability to work in a team environment and effectively communicate with diverse populations including minority, low income and persons with disabilities.
Ability to repetitively move 35lbs; routinely moves cooler and cooler bags from one location to another and from various heights in preparation of and for the completion of meal delivery; ability to ascend stairs and move around on city sidewalks.
Ability to quickly learn new computer programs.
Vehicle, valid driver license, and insurance required to perform job duties.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Valid Food Handler’s Certification or ability to obtain within two weeks.
Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and transportation required.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual/Bicultural English/Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Asian or African languages preferred.
Experience with client data management systems preferred.
