About The Position

The Program Assistant will greet and assist visitors, caregivers, providers, and community members in a professional and courteous manner. This role involves providing participants with assistance in Activities of Daily Living and documenting accordingly. The Program Assistant will also support clinical staff in implementing participant care plans, collecting medical information, and leading or assisting in therapeutic activities. Additionally, the role requires maintaining a neat and organized environment, participating in staff meetings and trainings, and assisting with mealtime preparation and clean-up. Documentation of participant attendance and assisting participants with transportation are also key responsibilities. Rogerson Communities is committed to providing the highest quality of care.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • One or more years of experience working with adults in a healthcare or social service setting
  • Sensitivity to the needs of disabled adults from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Awareness of and ability to execute basic transfer techniques
  • Ability to lift moderate weight without injury
  • Certification (CNA/HHA/PCA) is preferred for higher compensation

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist visitors, caregivers, providers and community members in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Provide participants with assistance in the Activities of Daily Living, and document accordingly.
  • Assist clinical staff in implementing participant care plans, and verbally reporting care plan concerns/updates.
  • Assist program nurses in collecting medical information, i.e., vital signs and carrying out treatments or therapies.
  • Lead or assist in therapeutic activities as planned both in the program and out in the community.
  • Engage participants therapeutically to encourage quality care delivery.
  • Observe and report any change in participant's health or mental status to program manager and/or clinical staff.
  • Provide initial de-escalation and behavior management interventions to maintain safety and well-being.
  • Provide initial incident reporting information as needed to ensure accurate incident/accident data.
  • Keep all activity areas, dining areas and rest rooms neat and picked up.
  • Actively participate in all staff meetings in their entirety, including giving input, writing down suggestions and following through on goals and objectives.
  • Actively participate in all mandatory employee trainings.
  • Set up activity areas and needed supplies in advance for all scheduled activities.
  • Help with preparation, serving and clean-up of mealtime, as assigned and as needed.
  • Document participant attendance (arrivals and departures).
  • Assist participants on and off vans and in and out of the program as assigned.
  • Agree to work as assigned.
  • Perform other program related duties as deemed necessary by supervisor.
