About The Position

ACCES Employment is a leading not-for-profit organization dedicated to connecting jobseekers from diverse backgrounds with employment opportunities across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. We serve over 56,000 job seekers annually, including newcomers, youth, women, and refugees, through customized job search programs. Our vision is to foster a fully inclusive labor force that reflects Canada's diverse population. We are seeking Program Assistants to work at six of our locations: Scarborough, Toronto, Markham, Newmarket, Mississauga, and Brampton. This position is fully onsite and is ideal for youth/students interested in Community & Employment Services, Career & Work Counseling, Social Work, Immigration & Settlement, Project Management, or Marketing.

Requirements

  • Must be between 15-30 years of age, at the start of the funded position.
  • Must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or someone to whom Refugee Status has been granted/conferred.
  • Have a valid SIN.
  • International students, and those who are here in Canada on a work, youth, or visitor visa/permit are not eligible for the program.
  • Superior customer service skills (minimum of 1-year customer service experience preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work and co-operate in a team
  • Strong time management and multitasking skills
  • Strong computer and digital skills – MS Office and troubleshooting
  • Must not be a client of ACCES, or a relative of an employee of ACCES

Nice To Haves

  • Pursuing or completed post-secondary education in one of the following fields is preferred: Community & Employment Services, Career & Work Counseling, Social Work, Immigration & Settlement, Project Management, or Marketing.
  • Some experience in an administrative setting is an asset
  • Previous work or volunteer experience working in a community-based setting is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Deliver client support services, with a focus on fostering inclusivity and accessibility for under-served and equity-deserving communities, including individuals facing employment barriers, racialized groups, and ODSP clients.
  • Assist with online client flow, ensuring smooth navigation and accessibility across ACCES services.
  • Support the organization of community events at ACCES sites, including those hosted by Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) such as BACC (Black Action Coalition for Change), SOMOS (Latin and Hispanic ERG), Pride A+ (2SLGBTQIA+ group), SAGE (South Asian Growth and Empowerment), MENA (Middle Eastern & North African), & ESAE (East & South East Asian).
  • Support the coordination of guest speakers for mentoring sessions, panel discussions, and networking events.
  • Collect, organize, and securely maintain client forms, ensuring data accurately reflects the diversity of clients served for reporting and evaluation purposes.
  • Update client information as required, in alignment with both internal and external requirements.
  • Assist with outreach to employers and community partners serving people with disabilities, underrepresented groups, and racialized communities to expand program reach, address systemic employment barriers, and raise awareness of ACCES programs.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure client needs are addressed with tailored support, making programs accessible to individuals facing employment barriers.
  • Support project and program managers with daily administrative tasks.
  • Provide support to staff in Marketing, Online Services, and other areas to promote equitable and inclusive program delivery.
  • Promote ACCES services to employers and community partners through telephone campaigns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Pay Rate: $18.50 per hour – 35 hours per week
