About The Position

Are you passionate about creating fun, safe, and memorable experiences for children and families? Join our team as a Program Assistant and play a key role in bringing basicREC and Camp basicREC programs to life! In this role, you'll help lead activities, support participants, provide outstanding customer service, and contribute to a welcoming recreation environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Must be at least 18 years old.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience working with recreation programs, camps, athletics, customer service, childcare, or community activities involving elementary school-aged children is preferred but not required.
Willingness to work indoor/outdoor.

Responsibilities

Assists with program setup, breakdown, and general operational support.
Monitors participants and activities to help maintain a safe environment.
Provides customer service and responds courteously to participant and public inquiries.
Assists with attendance tracking, sign-in/sign-out procedures, and activity coordination.
Enforces program rules, safety procedures, and department policies.
Reports accidents, incidents, behavioral concerns, or unsafe conditions to supervisory staff.
Assists with distributing equipment, supplies, and materials.
Serves as a liaison between participants, parents or guardians, program staff, and the Frederick County Parks & Recreation Division by providing routine program information and assisting with participant needs.
Maintains positive working relationships with participants, contracted organizations, parents of participants, and other staff.
Assists in maintaining a safe, organized, and inclusive recreation environment by monitoring participant activities and promptly reporting safety concerns or emergencies to supervisory staff.
Performs related duties as assigned.
