About The Position

The focus of this position is to assist in the implementation of intensive behavior management strategies for students with autism and behavioral difficulties in the classroom. This role involves working one-on-one or in small groups with students, evaluating their needs, providing interventions, and implementing evidence-based strategies to promote positive behavioral changes. The Program Assistant will also be responsible for assessing and defusing crisis situations, reinforcing appropriate behaviors, supporting students' social-emotional needs, and training students in skills that enable them to access education in their least restrictive environment. Daily data collection and collaboration with staff to meet student-specific goals are also key components of this role.

Requirements

Willing to participate in staff training in all relevant areas.
Physically able to restrain students for safety reasons if necessary.
Knowledge and experience with Autism and positive behavior support practices.

Behavior background such as RBT, etc.

Responsibilities

Working one on one or in a small group with students with behavioral needs or intense Autism needs.
Evaluating student needs and providing interventions to redirect behavior.
Implementing evidence based behavioral and Autism strategies designed to make positive and appropriate changes.
Assessing crisis situations and defusing situations using de-escalation and crisis management techniques.
Reinforcing appropriate behaviors and redirecting negative behavior.
Supporting the Social Emotional needs of the students.
Training on skills that would allow students to access education in their least restrictive environment.
Daily data collection.
Collaborate with staff to meet student-specific goals.
