About The Position

The Middlesex-London Health Unit has an exciting opportunity for a Part-Time Program Assistant to fill an existing vacancy on the Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) team in the Environmental Health, Infectious Diseases & Clinical Services (EHIDCS) division at our Citi Plaza location, London Ontario. The hourly rate for this position ranges from $25.88 to $33.66 hourly based on qualifications and experience.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary program in administrative studies of at least one year
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in providing excellent customer service and working effectively with team members
  • Demonstrated ability to enter data into databases with a high level of accuracy and speed
  • Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to balance changing priorities and competing work demands
  • Skills and experience in supporting teams and managers
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Demonstrated commitment to contributing to a positive workplace environment
  • Preferred candidates must have the skills, knowledge and experience needed to work with a diverse workforce and population

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in supporting client needs related to immunizations is considered an asset
  • Experience with Ministry database applications such as Panorama is considered an asset
  • Experience with supply, distribution and inventory systems is considered an asset
  • Experience with vulnerable populations and supporting client needs related to Public Health
  • Communication proficiency (written and verbal) in French and/or any other languages is highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the VPD team
  • Maintain a provincial vaccine inventory management database
  • Maintain a provincial immunization database for school aged immunizations and complete data entry from multiple sources
  • Utilize the provincial immunization database to prepare for school clinic and immunization screening and suspension programs
  • Provide clerical support for school and community-based clinics
  • Assist the public with requests for vaccine information and vaccines, referring to a PHN as appropriate
  • Co-ordinate vaccine ordering, distribution, and return of provincially funded vaccine with community health care providers
  • Assist with administrative processes involved in ensuring safe storage and handling and use of vaccines in the community
  • Maintain inventory and order necessary supplies for programs as needed
  • Run routine reports, prepare statistical reports, file documents and perform other record keeping
  • Provide administrative support for the EHIDCS division, as requested
  • Schedule meetings and take minutes, as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
