About The Position

The Department of Orthopaedics and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is seeking a candidate to assist the adult reconstruction research team (physician investigators and research coordinators) in the recruitment of research participants, the collection of research data, data entry, and organizational tasks for studies conducted in the Department of Orthopaedics and PM&R. The research assistant will be directly involved in the collection of questionnaire, interview, laboratory and other research data. This position requires exercising best practices in patient management, providing timely and accurately reports from research databases to PIs and research staff, and provides support for the research investigators, faculty, trainee physicians and program coordinator/manager.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and two years relevant program experience.

Responsibilities

  • Administer questionnaires and consents to patients in ambulatory clinics.
  • Collect study data per protocol during patient appointments.
  • Provide information to study participants and answer study-related questions.
  • Contact study participants by phone or letter to schedule follow-up visits post-surgery for shoulder, knee, and hip long-term follow-up studies.
  • Conduct outcome study survey data collection by calling participants and asking outcome questions.
  • Utilize Excel to maintain enrollment logs and follow-up logs.
  • Collect, compile, and input study data for study participants into specified databases.
  • Manage study data and prepare reports as deemed necessary by study PIs and Research Coordinator.
  • Travel with Research Coordinator to clinic sites to assist with participant recruitment and data collection.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
