About The Position

Within the context of a client and family centered care model and in accordance with established vision and values of the organization, works as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide administrative program support. Assists in the processing of referral requests; acts as a receptionist; arranges appointments and maintains and monitors client charts. Checks staff mileage expenses/travel claims, gathers and compiles statistical information, provides transcription services, word processes a variety of documents and correspondence, receives incoming/outgoing material, maintains inventory of program supplies, prepares program information packages, attends meetings and takes minutes, performs a variety of clerical duties, and engages in on-going team planning and program improvement.

Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • An approved Medical Office Assistant program
  • One (1) years’ recent related experience in a mental health and substance use worksite, or equivalent combination of education, experience and training
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of program policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in relevant software
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to keyboard 50 w.p.m.
  • Ability to be sensitive, tactful and diplomatic with clients and the public
  • Ability to work with clients living with mental illness and/or substance use
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work effectively with others
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to perform relevant calculations
  • Ability to compile information
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to take initiative
