About The Position

The Program Assistant position within Maryland Men’s basketball serves in a versatile support role across daily program operations, coaching support, player development, video coordination, practices, and gameday responsibilities. This role works closely with the Head Coach, coaching staff, basketball operations staff, and student-athletes to help ensure the efficient day-to-day functioning of the program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Must have successful collegiate or professional level coaching experience.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations to recruit off-campus is required.
  • Proven integrity, leadership, and a thorough knowledge of college basketball is required.
  • Candidate should possess a strong commitment and ability to motivate, teach, counsel, and recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a fast-paced Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA) department.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a special assistant to the Head Coach by supporting daily organizational and operational needs of the program
  • Assist with player development workouts, practice preparation, and on-court activities
  • Support film and video operations, including recording, editing, organizing, and distributing practice and game film
  • Assist with practice setup and breakdown, equipment organization, and overall gym operations
  • Help coordinate gameday responsibilities including locker room setup, bench preparation, video support, and postgame operations
  • Support recruiting visits, team events, travel logistics, and other basketball operations responsibilities as assigned
  • Maintain professionalism, organization, and strong communication within a fast-paced Division I basketball environment
