The Program Assistant for Education and Outreach supports the development and implementation of coastal education, community engagement, and student experiential learning programs at the Virginia Tech Coastal Collaborator (VTCC) in Hampton, Virginia. This position plays a central role in connecting VTCC’s applied coastal resilience work with students, educators, and communities by coordinating programs that translate technical knowledge into accessible, hands-on learning experiences. The position manages a portfolio of education and outreach programs, including K–12 coastal education, student experiential learning, internship and field placement coordination, and community outreach events. The role also facilitates student engagement in applied resilience initiatives, including work associated with the Resilience Adaptation Feasibility Tool (RAFT), ensuring that students are integrated into real-world implementation efforts. Working closely with VTCC staff, faculty, students, and external partners—including local governments, community organizations, and school systems—the Program Assistant supports program delivery, organizes activities and events, and strengthens the pipeline connecting education, applied experience, and workforce development in coastal resilience.
