About The Position

Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy. World Relief seeks a Program Assistant to supports all of World Relief Upstate SC's Economic Empowerment programs: Matching Grant, RSS Employment, Adult Education, and Walk-In Services. Working alongside program specialists, the Program Assistant serves newly arrived and established refugee and immigrant clients holistically, helping them find and keep employment, build English and life skills, and connect with community resources as they adjust to life in a new community and work toward long-term self-sufficiency. This is an entry level role offering meaningful, hands-on experience walking alongside people who are rebuilding their lives in a new country. The ideal candidate brings compassion and patience, the professionalism and confidence to hold clients accountable to their goals, and the humility to seek guidance from specialists and the program manager when situations become challenging. The role is Fulltime, 40 hrs. a week.

  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Association of Evangelicals' For the Health of The Nation document
  • Valid drivers license, access to reliable vehicle and ability to pass MVR standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word) and internet applications
  • Experience in a social service setting assisting people in need (volunteering experience)
  • Demonstrated understanding of case management processes

Nice To Haves

  • A High School Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
  • Previous case management experience working with vulnerable populations (volunteer experience preferred but not required)
  • Understanding of employment services and adult education as it relates to refugees and immigrants
  • Ability to speak another language (preferred but not required)
  • Cultural sensitivity working with people from diverse backgrounds and beliefs
  • Ability to problem solve promptly and effectively
  • A flexible, motivated team player who thrives in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to prioritize and stay organized in a fast-paced, changing environment

Responsibilities

  • Assist Employment Specialists with client care and case management for new arrivals and established clients.
  • Help clients build resumes, complete job applications, and prepare for interviews.
  • Support job placements through application assistance, interview preparation, and transportation as needed.
  • Help facilitate job-readiness classes.
  • Conduct 6-month, 12-month, and 180-day follow-ups to support job retention and program outcomes.
  • Refer clients to community ESL providers and follow up to encourage consistent attendance.
  • Support instructors and volunteers in the classroom as needed.
  • Help program specialist coordinate classes and workshops with program specialists, including financial literacy, entrepreneurship, digital literacy, and immigration workshops.
  • Support program specialists in Walk-In Services as needed by welcoming clients, identifying their needs, and providing direct help or referrals.
  • Assist clients with everyday needs such as forms, applications, correspondence, and connections to community resources.
  • Obtain client signatures for applications and program documents.
  • Maintain accurate, timely client files, case notes, and data entry across programs.
  • Handle check and mail delivery.
  • Participate in staff meetings and trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
