About The Position

The Department of Justice Services is seeking a Program and Operations Supervisor to improve continuity and stability in how neighborhoods address issues impacting safety. The Program and Operations Supervisor will foster community collaboration and engagement by utilizing the City’s “Gun Violence Prevention and Intervention Framework” and will be the city's "point person" for organizing recommendations and initiatives. This position will work closely with city agencies, community leaders, businesses, and citizens impacted by community violence to assess the challenges and opportunities for greater alignment of community safety. This position will report to the Neighborhood Safety Engagement Manager. Tasks for this position are prioritized by the Deputy Department Director –Senior of Justice Services. Requirements

  • Sensitivity to social issues such as racial/ethnic and other forms of inequity, especially as they relate to the criminal justice system.
  • Ability to communicate with diverse individuals.
  • Analyzing gathering and compiling data.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven ability to understand and work with complex systems, including law enforcement, education, social services, public health, community agencies and faith organizations.
  • Bachelor's degree in business/public administration or field related to assignment
  • Four years of paraprofessional experience in area related to assignment, such as assisting with program or project administration and management analysis

Responsibilities

  • Review and relay best practices regarding community safety in Richmond and/or other cities of like size and demographics.
  • Conduct assessments of community progress, needs and areas of improvement.
  • Assist with data collection and analysis.
  • Prepare written status reports.
  • Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of programs and initiatives within the city and region that pertain to healthy communities and positive youth development.
  • Facilitate small community-based workgroups to assist with organizing credible messengers.
