About The Position

Texas A&M University’s Department of Physics and Astronomy is looking for a Program Aide to support technical research efforts. In this role, the Program Aide will establish and fully validate a test‑stand system consisting of a VME crate with custom VME‑compatible FPGA electronics boards and auxiliary components, enabling a realistic emulation of the TAMU‑built OTMB electronics board used in the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).

Requirements

  • PhD in Physics.
  • Familiarity and experience working with the VME-based electronics
  • working knowledge of C/C++
  • python
  • MS Office tools
  • Linux
  • firmware programming tools for FPGAs
  • experience testing and debugging electronics
  • knowledge of statistics for comparison of datasets
  • experience with data processing and analysis.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a test-stand system for use in the CMS experiment.
  • Fully validate the test-stand system to enable a fully realistic emulation of the TAMU-built OTMB electronics board.
