About The Position

The Program Aide assists with operating the Corps’ After School Program and Summer Day Camp Program. This role involves assisting with planning, creating, and implementing activities, instructing and participating in program activities, providing youth supervision, and maintaining program rules and policies. The position also includes preparing and serving food and snacks, and providing or assisting with child transportation. Administrative duties include maintaining parent/child relations, managing client sign-in and attendance records, and potentially supervising volunteers. Facilities responsibilities involve maintaining building security, general cleaning, changing bulletin boards monthly, reporting maintenance needs, and inventorying equipment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior experience working with children in a structured setting
  • Ability to relate to children and exhibit a positive leadership example
  • Ability to participate in the physical recreation activities
  • Ability to work independently and on a set schedule
  • Ability to perform duties reliable and timely
  • Ability to handle emergency situations in a calm and professional manner
  • Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.
  • Valid driver's license from the state in which the employee resides.

  • Post-secondary training in teaching, childhood development, mentoring, recreation and/sports preferred
