About The Position

The Arc of Cumberland and Perry Counties in Carlisle, PA is seeking to hire a part time entry-level Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide direct care for the individuals we serve with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role involves supporting individuals with disabilities to lead self-directed, meaningful lives as part of a dedicated and motivated team. The Arc of Cumberland and Perry Counties was founded in 1953 by parents advocating for services for people with disabilities. Requirements

At least 18 years of age
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle during working hours
Punctual and reliable
Ability to keep track of multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Flexible and patient
Respectful, discreet with confidential information, and honest

Responsibilities

Support people with disabilities to live their best lives as independently as possible.
Assist with activities of daily living such as household maintenance, transportation, administration of medications, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and personal care.
Build strong relationships with individuals served, learning their individual differences in ability, personality, interests, learning, motivation, likes, and dislikes to provide the best care.
Provide care according to the individual needs and desires of the people being supported.
