About The Position

The Graduate Programs Office coordinates the Master’s of Fine Arts programs and other SMFA postgraduate programming. The Graduate Programs Administrator, in collaboration with graduate program directors, participates in the development of goals and strategies for the Masters of Fine Arts and other SMFA graduate programs. This role applies specialized, subject matter knowledge to develop, implement, review, and evaluate programs. The administrator is responsible for implementing timely, effective communications to promote the program and works with students to navigate curricular and academic issues, acting as a liaison to other areas of student support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3-5 years Experience managing academic programs and advising students
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to work with diverse group of stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively facilitate and lead projects
  • Excellent prioritization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and able to work independently

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree In arts organization or related area
  • Experience with contemporary visual art, and visual arts education/organization

Responsibilities

  • Manages coordination of student services for the school’s graduate programs including registration, orientation, study abroad, scholarships and awards, career planning, general communication, and referral to academic and counseling resources.
  • Develops, designs and implements administrative and academic policies and procedures for graduate programs. Develops and implements curriculum and scheduling. Edits graduate student handbooks and publications in conjunction with the GSAS and student divisions.
  • Advises and counsels students regarding requirements for academic programs, graduation, and internship opportunities. Works with faculty to ensure their advising aligns with this and with other Tufts student support resources.
  • Oversees special events and programming for graduate programs.
  • Works closely with SMFA admissions and communication teams to develop messaging and ensure accurate program descriptions. Acts as liaison as needed between admissions and academic leadership. Ensures smooth transitions from candidate to accepted student to enrolled student.
