About The Position

The Office of Scientific Research Management (OSRM) is seeking a Program Administrator to help shape the future of research program operations at MSK. Leading up to two research programs, this role provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and faculty partnership to ensure sustainable, high‑impact administrative support aligned with MSK, SKI, and OSRM goals. The Program Administrator works closely with Program Chairs and Directors, as the primary operational lead for assigned programs. This role will also build scalable processes across administrative operations, financial stewardship, communications, and program initiatives, and leads the development of administrative staff supporting the program(s).

Requirements

  • Progressively responsible experience in administrative operations, research administration, or project management.
  • Experience supporting senior leaders or serving in a high‑level administrative or executive support role.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and related administrative systems.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strategic problem solver with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective communicator who can tailor messages to multiple audiences.
  • Skilled in project management and coordinating high-stakes initiatives.
  • Passion for improving systems and elevating user experience.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting as workflows evolve.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily operations and ensures that strategic program objectives are translated into actionable, efficient workflows.
  • Serves as a trusted partner to the Program Chair and faculty, facilitating communication, anticipating needs, and ensuring alignment with institutional priorities.
  • Supports, Chair, faculty, and the administrative teams in navigating MSK systems and processes—such as procurement, accounts payable, human resources, and related institutional workflows - serving as a key operational guide and partner concern point.
  • Collaborates closely with Associate Directors, Directors, as well as collaborate with the Weill Cornell Graduate School – when applicable to support program initiatives, and trainees.
  • Supervises, coaches, and evaluates Administrative Assistants and the Assistant to the Chair, fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous growth.
  • Leads process improvements, implements OSRM standards, and adapts workflows as the operating model scales across programs.
  • Proactively addresses operational challenges, making informed decisions on workload distribution, performance gaps, and system enhancements.
  • Participate in departmental and cross-functional projects as assigned by OSRM leadership, contributing to broader operational initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
