The Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life is a national leader in civic education, whose teaching, research, and community partnerships are setting the standard for higher education’s role in civic engagement. As the only university-wide college of its kind, Tisch engages Tufts students in transformational learning opportunities via hands-on field-based experiences, community building, and public service. These engagements prepare them to become active citizens and community leaders. Tisch research centers conduct groundbreaking research on young people’s civic and political participation and forge innovative participatory action research partnerships with communities. Tisch College’s North Star—building robust, inclusive democracy for an increasingly multiracial society—seeks to cultivate knowledge, leaders and living experiments that expand possibilities for democratic development in the context of increasing risks to democracy worldwide. Our work supports the University’s efforts to become an anti-racist institution. Our programs and research centers focus on strengthening the political participation and voices of historically marginalized people, especially youth, and on addressing the challenges of building and reviving democratic institutions needed for multiracial/ethnic societies. The Program Administrator, Community Partnerships will help to develop and execute goals and a strategic plan to enhance and deepen multi-disciplinary community partnerships for education, research, and practice. The Program Administrator will lead community outreach and manage partnerships and collaborations with key community partners and stakeholders. These partnerships are the basis for unique and transformative learning experiences as well as opportunities for students, student groups, faculty, and staff to support local communities and the work of community organizations. The Program Administrator will regularly meet in person and virtually with partners at community organizations and government agencies while also coordinating with teams across Tisch College in support of student internships, research projects, curriculum and course designs, convenings, and more. This role will manage timelines and expenditures and participate in evaluating and learning from collaborations to improve future work. The Program Administrator will also manage public communications with community partners and represent Tisch College at events. A successful candidate will have strong ties to at least one of Tufts' host and surrounding communities and knowledge of the assets, cultural life and traditions, histories, and challenges these communities face. They must have deep knowledge of and experience with Boston's nonprofit and public sectors, with a focus on underserved communities. They must have knowledge of and/or experience with community organizing, civic engagement, community development, or advocacy as tools for addressing and creating social change. They must be able to take initiative and be creative and innovative with engagement strategies and partnership models, and be present at community events, convenings, conferences, and meetings, occasionally during evenings and weekends. This position reports to the Director, Community Partnerships.
