About The Position

The Community Partnerships Lead is a key member of the Fund Development department leading their program that uses the vehicle of community fundraising events, sponsorship, and corporate partnerships to build engagement and raise financial support to advance the mission and vision of CMHA Edmonton. This revenue-generating role is responsible for designing and delivering high-impact fundraising, sponsorship, and donor relations experiences that strengthen community connections and support the mission of CMHA Edmonton. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Fund Development, this role oversees the organization’s third party, corporate and sponsorship program, while supporting the creation and execution of a donor relations program focused on engaging and cultivating meaningful relationships with volunteers, donors, corporations and community partners. The role also provides direct supervision and day-to-day leadership to the Development and Engagement Coordinator. Through thoughtful research, relationship-building, and execution, the Community Partnerships Lead will grow the visibility and impact of community and corporate partnerships, while maintaining and deepening existing relationships. This role will also lead the execution of the annual Push Up Challenge with a focus on growth of the program through local and regional corporate participation and sponsorship opportunities. Working in collaboration with the Mental Health Week planning committee the Community Partnerships Lead will focus on partnerships within the community that can elevate community participation and awareness in the campaign while also bringing in revenue. Requirements

  • Post-secondary education preferred, or equal work experience in fundraising, events, marketing or sales.
  • Preference will be given for candidates with 3-5+ years of experience in fund development in the non-profit sector. Candidates with event and client management experience will be considered.
  • Graduate or post graduate education or training in a related area of focus.
  • Experiencing supervising staff or providing day-to-day leadership is an asset.
  • Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated success in planning and executing large scale events.
  • Experience in external engagement and volunteer management with a focus on strong relationship building and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, be flexible, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional communication and public presentation skills for both small and large groups.
  • A positive, friendly, and collaborative team member with a can-do attitude.
  • Passion for mental health, inclusion, and the power of community support to make a difference.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices.
  • Ability to interact comfortably, tactfully and effectively with donors and internal and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of the annual fundraising plan, as well as the development of a community partnerships strategy for the organization.
  • Strengthen the community partnerships program through community outreach, exceptional donor experience, and strong stewardship and cultivation practices.
  • Lead, identify and research community partnership opportunities, identifying new and existing opportunities with schools, corporations, and communities to increase revenue streams and engagement.
  • Plan and execute the annual Push Up Challenge campaign.
  • Support the planning and execution of Mental Health Week, with a focus on sponsorship, cause marketing, third-party, and corporate partnerships.
  • Act as a representative of CMHA Edmonton at both internal and external events.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of a community partnerships program that aligns with CMHA Edmonton’s annual fundraising plan.
  • Strengthen and grow the community partnerships program through community outreach, exceptional donor experience, and strong relationship management practices.
  • Develop the overall approach for third-party, sponsorship, and corporate partnerships including building clear processes for approvals, agreements, and brand use.
  • Create user-friendly resources such as intake forms, sponsorship packages, toolkits, and templates.
  • Develop slide decks, proposal, packages, and reporting templates that allow for easy customized solicitation and stewardship of partners.
  • Provide day‑to‑day supervision and guidance to the Development and Engagement Coordinator, including work planning, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Assign and review work to support the Coordinator’s responsibilities across Fund Development, helping to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Conduct regular check‑ins to support accountability, quality of work, and professional development.
  • Participate in performance reviews and staffing processes in collaboration with the Senior Manager, Fund Development.
  • Be the main contact for individuals, businesses, and groups hosting events for CMHA Edmonton.
  • Guide organizers through the approval process, provide resources, and offer light planning support.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to provide materials, volunteers, or other needs.
  • Oversee the application and reporting process for AGLC raffle and 50/50 licenses.
  • Ensure proper follow‑up after events, including thank‑yous, impact summaries, and re‑engagement.
  • Research, identify, and qualify potential partners.
  • Prepare sponsorship proposals and work with partners to customize opportunities.
  • Track and manage sponsorship agreements and timelines.
  • Collaborate with Communications, Programs, and other teams to deliver all sponsor benefits.
  • Prepare stewardship reports and support renewal conversations.
  • Oversee the execution of all partnership and sponsorship deliverables.
  • Coordinate across departments to ensure timelines, messaging, and brand requirements are met.
  • Maintain tracking tools for deliverables and status updates.
  • Keep accurate and timely records of activity in the database.
  • Track pipelines for third‑party fundraising, sponsorship, and corporate partnerships.
  • Produce quarterly updates on partnership activity and KPIs.
  • Maintain strong data quality and follow organizational data standards.
  • Lead the annual planning and execution of the campaign.
  • Attend national meetings and share updates with fund development as well as the marketing and communications team.
  • Coordinate internal work, develop promotional ideas, and engage with corporate teams.
  • Identify and build community partnership and sponsorship opportunities to grow awareness and increase revenue generation opportunity.
  • Represent fund development on any internal Mental Health Week planning committees.
  • Build sponsorship, corporate partnership, cause marketing, and community engagement opportunities for Mental Health week.
  • Prepare proposals and coordinate benefit delivery.
  • Build and carry out a stewardship plan for partners in alignment with the overall stewardship plan.
  • Track results and prepare a wrap up summary.
  • Provide support as needed to the fund development team on Mental Health Week fundraising initiatives.
  • Support CMHA Edmonton events by leading sponsorship and partnership opportunities connected to events.
  • Plan and coordinate CMHA’s involvement in community partnership events (e.g. partner-run golf tournaments or corporate charity days.)
  • Provide support to the fund development team as needed in internal events.
  • Represent CMHA Edmonton at community meetings, workplace campaigns, and events.
  • Build strong relationships with supporters, donors, volunteers, and partners.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to achieve the outcomes of the community partnerships program, specifically maintaining a close relationship with the volunteer lead, community strategies lead, and community education and training team.
  • Maintain a strong and highly collaborative relationship with the marketing and communications team and the finance team.
  • Work closely with the volunteer lead and community strategies lead to schedule and support volunteers for events and community initiatives.
