About The Position

Seneca is seeking passionate part-time professors to join a dynamic faculty committed to delivering education beyond the classroom. The role involves equipping students with the skills needed to thrive in today’s evolving digital economy. As a part-time professor, you will contribute to experiential learning, collaborate with industry, and bring real-world insight into the classroom while demonstrating teaching excellence and academic leadership. The position is for the Fall term, with course assignments based on scheduling needs. Contracts are typically up to 6 hours per week, and daytime on-campus availability is preferred. The professor will be responsible for providing academic leadership in the classroom and ensuring an effective and compelling learning environment for students. The specific course is Law, Ethics and Social Responsibility in Software Development (BTE620), which covers legal, ethical, and societal impacts of technology, including AI governance, privacy, and cybersecurity.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Law, Public Policy, Ethics, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
• Post-secondary teaching and/or strong industry experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of technology ethics, privacy legislation, cybersecurity governance, digital policy, and emerging technologies.
• Experience applying ethical, legal, and social frameworks to technology-related issues.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
• Collaboration and teamwork.
• Knowledge of AI governance, privacy, cybersecurity, intellectual property, and digital policy.
• Ability to connect theoretical concepts to contemporary industry practices and real-world case studies.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners.

Nice To Haves

• A Master's degree or PhD is considered an asset.
• Postsecondary teaching experience is preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Providing academic leadership in the classroom.
• Ensuring an effective and compelling learning environment for students.
• Ensuring student awareness of course objectives, approach and evaluation techniques.
• Carrying out regularly scheduled instruction, which may include tutoring and academic counselling of students.
• Providing a learning environment that makes effective use of available resources, work experience and field trips.
• Evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the student's work within assigned course.
