Part-Time Professor - Police Fountations Program
About The Position
Reporting to the Associate Dean, of Human Services and Community Safety, the incumbent develops and delivers a course in the Human Services and Community Safety academic area for the Police Foundations Diploma program. Courses are scheduled and delivered during the day and are planned to be delivered in person at Owen Sound campus. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: • Delivers a course in the Police Foundations program (potential courses include, but are not limited to): o LAWS 1017 – Canadian Criminal Justice • Develops and delivers appropriate curriculum to meet course objectives. • Incorporates a variety of teaching / learning strategies to meet student needs. • Evaluates student progress / achievement. • Participates in program and college activities as required. • Participates in program revisions and renewal activities as required. • Creates and maintains a positive learning environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (Masters considered an asset) in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Law or related field
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the policing, criminal justice or law field
- A minimum of three years previous teaching experience at a postsecondary level and / or adult training experience.
- Proven commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Decolonization practice including knowledge and experience of working with diverse communities
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to contribute to, and work in, a positive team environment and to foster the same in their students.

- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations.
- Computer literacy in the Microsoft Office suite
Nice To Haves
- Experience with online course development and / or online teaching.
- Ability to understand and apply research and evidence-based practice in teaching.
- Experience with inter-professional teams and / or inter-professional education.
- Experience in some or all the following: curriculum development, work integrated learning and / or program / student retention strategies.
- Computer literacy: Learning Management Software (i.e. Blackboard) and Student Information Systems
- Ability to effectively integrate new technology into teaching and learning.
- The ability to teach in more than one subject or program area.
