About The Position

The Department of Finance in the College of Business at Florida Atlantic University is seeking a tenure-track Professor of Real Estate and Finance, open rank, starting Fall 2026 or Spring 2027. The department is looking for a scholar with a strong background in research, teaching, and professional engagement in real estate and finance, particularly in real estate finance, real estate investment, and financial economics. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in AI-related research in real estate and finance, who can contribute to scholarship, curriculum development, and external visibility. Professional experience in real estate is also preferred. The role involves active engagement with industry, alumni, and the business community. The College of Business offers a supportive research environment with access to extensive databases and robust academic programs at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. The department has a significant student body and doctoral students may provide research assistance.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in finance or real estate, or closely related field from a university with AACSB or similar business accreditation.
  • An established/emerging research record which includes real estate research along with traditional finance research.
  • Expertise in topics such as REITs, real estate capital markets, real estate investment, AI and machine learning applications in real estate and finance, along with mainstream finance topics.
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching as instructor of record at an accredited (AACSB or similar) university.
  • Strong quantitative skills (Python, R, SAS, Stata, or similar) and expertise in current empirical finance methods and databases used in real estate and finance research.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional work experience in some area of real estate is preferred.
  • Certification or experience in online teaching is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach real estate and finance courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including MBA, MSF, and PhD programs, as well as executive programs.
  • Maintain an active program of research and publications appropriate for maintaining AACSB Scholarly Academic qualifications at an R1 institution.
  • Participate in appropriate service to the department, college, university, community, and profession.
  • Produce scholarly research in top-tier, peer-reviewed real estate and finance journals.
  • Work with real estate professionals and develop industry collaborations and partnerships.
