About The Position

The Professor of Practice will also serve as Director of the Spanish Language Program, overseeing its pedagogical mission, curriculum, staffing, instructional evaluation, assessment, and day-to-day administration. The position includes teaching in the program and contributing to the broader educational mission of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese and the School of Liberal Arts.

The appointment is at the rank of Professor of Practice or Senior Professor of Practice, with initial rank dependent on experience and qualifications. The Director receives a substantial stipend and three course releases per year in recognition of the administrative responsibilities. The Director teaches three courses per academic year on a 1-2 or 2-1 schedule.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Spanish Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, Spanish, or a related field.
• Superior-level proficiency in Spanish and English.
• A strong record of successful university-level Spanish language teaching.
• Demonstrated expertise in second-language pedagogy, curriculum development, and assessment.
