Tulane University's Department of French and Italian invites applications for a non-tenure-track Professor of Practice to teach Haitian Creole and French and Francophone language, literature, and culture. The position starts July 1, 2027. Haitian Creole teaching is an integral part of the university’s French and Francophone Studies program, Linguistics program, and Latin American Studies program. The department is especially interested in candidates whose teaching can expand the program and contribute to existing strengths in Latin American Studies, Caribbean Studies, French and Francophone Studies, and Linguistics. The teaching load is three courses per semester, typically including one or two Haitian Creole courses and courses in French language, literature, or linguistics, or in an aspect of Caribbean language, literature, history, or culture. This is a full-time renewable three-year appointment with benefits; following promotion to Senior Professor of Practice, it is renewable every five years. A PhD is required for appointment. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae and contact information for at least three professional references. Tulane University is an equal opportunity educator and employer and provides reasonable accommodations to applicants with disabilities throughout the screening process.
