About The Position

The Department of Neurology at the University of Florida College of Medicine is seeking a full-time faculty member for an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor position in Neuromuscular Neurology. The role's rank and tenure status will be determined by the candidate's qualifications and experience. The selected individual will become part of a respected academic neurology program, contributing to the department's clinical, educational, and scholarly objectives. Key duties include providing expert outpatient and inpatient care for individuals with neuromuscular disorders, participating in specialized multidisciplinary clinics, educating medical students, residents, and fellows, and conducting research in areas aligned with the candidate's interests and expertise, spanning clinical, translational, or basic sciences.

Requirements

  • MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree.
  • Board certified or board eligible in Neurology.
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Neuromuscular Medicine Fellowship.
  • Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Florida.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in patient care, teaching, and academic medicine.

Nice To Haves

  • Board certification in Neuromuscular Medicine.
  • Expertise in electrodiagnostic medicine (EMG/NCS).
  • Experience in clinical research, translational research, clinical trials, or other scholarly activities.
  • Demonstrated success in interdisciplinary collaboration and academic program development.
  • Record of peer-reviewed publications and extramural funding (for associate and full professor candidates).

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized clinical care to patients with neuromuscular disorders, including peripheral neuropathies, myopathies, motor neuron diseases, neuromuscular junction disorders, and inherited neuromuscular conditions.
  • Participate in inpatient neurology consultations and neuromuscular service activities.
  • Perform and interpret electrodiagnostic studies (EMG/NCS).
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient-centered care.
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities.
  • Develop and maintain a scholarly portfolio through research, publications, quality improvement initiatives, or other academic endeavors.
  • Contribute to the growth and advancement of the Neuromuscular Division and Department of Neurology.
