About The Position

The Division of General Internal Medicine is seeking a full-time faculty member to join their team in NW Ohio. This academic position involves a combination of teaching, patient care, research/scholarship, and administrative activities. The role contributes to the mission of the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences, focusing on educating students, residents, and fellows, and developing research programs related to geriatrics and internal medicine.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree required.
  • Successful completion of an Internal Medicine and Geriatrics residency required.
  • Board Certification required, or eligible to obtain Board Certification within three (3) years of hire.
  • Must meet all institutional requirements for appointment at the Assistant Professor level.
  • Ability to successfully teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Experience collaborating with specialists to explore patient health conditions and diagnose health issues.
  • Experience working in a team of healthcare professionals and collaborating with them to ensure positive, effective patient experiences.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the Department’s educational programs, teaching medical students and residents.
  • Participate in the medical student lecture series.
  • Actively participate in all teaching conferences of the Department.
  • Participate in postgraduate courses conducted by the Department.
  • Precept and mentor students and residents.
  • Teach pre-clerkship medical students in the classroom, small groups, and other clinical or non-clinical settings.
  • Conduct teaching rounds and ambulatory clinics with medical students during clerkship and advanced clinical rotations.
  • Deliver didactics for medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Provide mentorship and advising for students, residents, and fellows.
  • Participate in departmental conferences such as Morbidity and Mortality Conference, Grand Rounds, and Journal Clubs.
  • Participate in research and other scholarly activities related to the area of expertise and interest with the expectation of intramural and extramural grant funding.
  • Participate in administrative and/or service functions of the Department of General Internal Medicine, the College of Medicine and Life Sciences, or teaching hospital committees as reasonably called upon.
