About The Position

Geneva College invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in the Department of Computer Science & Cybersecurity. The position begins Jan 1, 2027 and will remain open, until filled. Following is a complete job description with required skills, abilities, education, and experience. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications should submit the following information for consideration.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a closely related field from an accredited U.S. college/university or international equivalent.
  • Expertise and hands-on skills in at least one of these areas: software development, networking, data science, artificial intelligence.
  • Competence to teach in two or more of the following areas: computer organization, operating systems, programming, algorithms, database systems, networking, software engineering, artificial intelligence.
  • An eligible candidate must be a thoughtful and articulate Christian and an active member of a Protestant evangelical Christian church.
  • An eligible candidate must understand and support the College’s “Foundational Concepts of Christian Education” by expressing an evangelical Christian profession of faith and demonstrate the ability to integrate a Christian perspective in their work.
  • Must be able to perform the following: talking, hearing, and seeing.
  • Must have sufficient manual dexterity to be able to operate all office equipment including, but not limited to computers, printers, copiers, scanners, and telephones.
  • Must be able to reason, analyze, prioritize, conceptualize, make judgments, and solve problems.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field from an accredited U.S. college/university or international equivalent.
  • Previous full-time successful higher education teaching experience preferred.
  • Relevant industry experience preferred.
  • Experience guiding individual student research opportunities.
  • Academic or industry leadership experience.
  • Preference will be given to the candidate who supports and has an articulate understanding of the Reformed faith.

Responsibilities

  • Teach twelve contact hours per semester. Overloads may be necessary at times.
  • Maintain currency in research and/or industry to better mentor students in advanced courses or design projects.
  • Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons.
  • Provide each student with clear course expectations, evaluations, and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and approved syllabus per faculty established guidelines.
  • Provide interesting and relevant assignments for students that demonstrate learning outcomes in a real-life setting.
  • Suitably challenge, engage, support, and communicate with students to encourage their participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect.
  • Provide timely grades to students through college software and upload mid-term and final grades by college deadlines.
  • Respond to student questions on a timely basis.
  • Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus.
  • Genuinely love working with college students.
  • Candidate must possess the ability to respond quickly to a changing industry landscape and be able to adapt courses to accommodate the most recent developments.
  • Candidate must be a team player who is committed to the cooperative success of the program.
  • Candidate must engage in academic advising of majors within the computer science and cybersecurity department.
  • Candidate must participate in student recruitment efforts.
