About The Position

This is a part-time (0.4 FTE) faculty position in the Department of Medicine at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. The role involves participating in departmental and medical school activities as a Clinical Teacher, with a significant commitment to education through scholarly activities related to education, leadership, administration, and the promotion of excellence in clinical care. The position is open rank, meaning candidates will be considered for Assistant, Associate, or Professor levels.

Requirements

  • Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.
  • Graduate of accredited medical school program.
  • Graduate of formal specialty training program in Infectious Disease.
  • Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine or eligibility for ABIM.
  • Diplomate of the American Board of Infectious Diseases Medicine or eligibility for Infectious Diseases Board.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Illinois or Licensed by the State of Illinois prior to employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assume other divisional and departmental administrative responsibility as directed by the Division Chief.
  • Participate in Fellowship Program related activities.
  • Teach, mentor, and supervise individual students/residents/fellows during outpatient consultations and follow-up visits.
  • Prepare and deliver lectures, seminars, conferences and rounds for students and residents.
  • Provide periodic seminars/educational sessions for the division.
  • Prepare conferences for the Department of Medicine.
  • Complete outpatient consultations requested by full-time SIU clinical faculty, house staff and community physicians.
  • Develop and maintain professional practice in accordance with departmental policy.
  • Provide 2 full day outpatient clinic days per week.
  • Participate in University, SIU HC and hospital committees as requested.
